Our Nature/weather walk 5/2/19

Today on our nature/weather walk we learnt about seeing ourselves in the puddles and learnt the word “reflection”, when we looked in the puddles we spoke about if they moved or if they were still and we decided they were still, until we threw a stone in and then they made “ripples” like little circles. We spoke about the different types of weather, sun, hot, cold, rain, cloudy, foggy, storms and wind. We took part in an experiment where we licked one finger and held it up high and when the wind blew, it dried them and it was cold.

We found a bridge and decided to safely walk across in partners, and we spoke about a troll living underneath and the 3 billy goats gruff story. In the distance we saw a bird scarecrow blowing in the wind and saw a tree we thought may have been struck by lightning. We also made our own thunder sounds by following Nikki and stamping our feet and clapping our hands loudly. We found two bridges and the last bridge took us into the woods and we walked across to find some “steep steps” we had great fun using our gross motor skills to climb the steps and Julia told us the old railway line used to be there. We spoke about making sure we use our listening ears and looking eyes to keep an eye out for any dangers as we always need to stay safe when we go outside of preschool. We had so much fun exploring our nature/weather walk today.
